Native to Eastern North America & often found in flood plains, along streams or rivers, or low-lying woodlands.   Large tree with short, stout trunk, spreading, open, irregular crown & graceful cut-leaves with silver undersides. An excellent addition to a rain garden as it can grow in areas of poor soil or wet conditions. Attracts many species of birds. Yellow fall color.
