Chasmanthium latifolium

Northern Seaoats - This striking, coarse-leaved grass makes a splash with it's bambusoid foliage and flattened seedheads that seem to live in 2 dimensions. Sea oats reaches 3 to 4 feet tall and about 2 to 3 feet wide, and thrives in partial shade, unlike most grasses that require nearly full sun. Few plants offer this texture in shade, making it a precious complement to hostas and many of the low, broadleaf perennials of the low-light environment. But don't be afraid to plant it in sun either.
